This holiday season has been a busy one. That’s part of the reason for my absence from the blog. However, I promise I’m getting back into the swing of things.
Before it’s too late, I wanted to share with you some of our Mid-Century Modern Christmas decorations we’ve used to deck our halls. I hope they can provide you with some inspiration.
The tree

We bought our tree from a local farm that had a lot near our house. Picture us walking down the street with tree in hand, neighborhood dogs barking, and neighbors wondering what’s happening. We picked out a Fraser Fir, one of my favorite trees, and decked it in new (vintage looking) and vintage glass ornaments.
I think it turned out great. And I love that it fills the picture window in the living room so nicely.

I picked this set of ornaments at an estate sale.
These vintage looking ornaments come from Target.
This is another estate sale find.
This is another Target ornament. The paper garland is made of comics and children’s books.
Dining table centerpiece

A vintage piece of cloth became the inspiration for the dining table centerpiece.
Greens were added to a simple flower arrangement.
Pine cones around the bottom of the base of the vase add a nice finishing touch to the centerpiece.
I knew I wanted some sort of a centerpiece for our dining room table, but I didn’t realize it would be so easy to put together. I picked up this festive square of fabric at a vintage market. It’s from Z Amore in Minneapolis. Then I simply got some flowers and greens, arranged them in a vase, and placed some old pine cones I had from several years ago around the arrangement. It looks great and was so simple to put together.
TIP: Swap out the fabric and flowers to match the season, and you’ll have great centerpieces throughout the year.
Small touches

These MCM style stocking came from Etsy.
The candle holders and bottle brush trees are from Target.
A warm Christmasy feeling in the living room.
I added a few other touches throughout the living room to finish out our MCM Christmas look. We found some vintage style stockings on Etsy to hang over the fireplace.
Of course, candles are a must. Some golden candle holders and bottle brush trees fill out the ledges on the fireplace wall.
I hope this gives you some holiday decorating ideas, and I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Allen – tell me about that paper garland. Did you make it or buy it? Clever!
oops, didn’t mean to be “anonymous”! This is Donna from Max’s church! š
Donna – I bought it at a craft market several years ago. Iāve tried to find the crafter to but some more, but I donāt think sheās in business any more. Itās really cute garland. They cut out images and then stitched them together to form the garland.
